Description

Captured ship: Juffrouw Maria (master Maarte de Wit).

History: a Dutch ship (135 tons, 6 men and a boy), bound from Calais to Bordeaux laden with empty glass bottles; taken on 27 September / 8 October 1747 off Dungeness by the privateer Success (Thomas Hall commanding) and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7-CP 7f]: attestation with 5 exhibits: 2 letters, bill of lading, invoice, customs certificate; with accompanying translation;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 13 ship's papers (all restored).
