Description

Captured ship: Jonge Andreas (master Henrich Barckhorn).

History: a Prussian ship (100 tons, 7 men), bound from Dublin to Rochfort laden with butter, tallow and coal, taken on 24 August / 4 September 1747 by the privateer Mary Galley (Peter Oliver commanding) and brought into Guernsey.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 3]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 4]: allegation;
  • [CP 5-CP 6]: two attestations issued by the ruling authorities of Konigsberg, with translations;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 15 ship's papers (some of which were restored).

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 6-SP 15 (SP 1-4 and 13 not here).

  • SP 6: bill of lading issued at Dublin;
  • SP 7-SP 9: a letter of recommendation, 2 letters, all from Dublin and addressed to surgeons in Paris;
  • SP 10-SP 12: 2 bills of lading issued at Dublin;
  • Sp 12-SP 15: letter, two invoices;

[Decision: part of cargo condemned ship and part restored; 22 March 1747, rest condemned 3 November 1747]
