Description

Captured ship: Juffrouw Elizabeth (master Sören Pedersen).

History: a Danish ship (63 lasts, 11 men and 9 passengers), bound from Hamburg to Bordeaux laden with staves, empty glass bottles, wine glasses, copper, tin plates, starch, toys, pepper, alum etc, captured on 6/17 November 1747 by the privateer Culloden (Abraham Boxell commanding) and brought first into the Downs, and then into Sandwich.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7-CP 16]: 10 sets of attestations, affidavits and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Hamburg, Lubeck, Berlin, Nurnburg, Frankfurt and Altona;
  • [CP 17-CP 18]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 75 ship's papers [these papers were restored].

Decision: [ship and cargo restored, 16 April 1748]
