Captured ship: Judith (master Clement Martin).
History: an English ship (23 men and 3 passengers), bound from St Kitts to London in company with the Blackett and Fenwick (master Mathias Jefferson); taken on 15/26 May 1742 off the Scilly Isles by the Spanish privateer Pearl (Don Juan de Miranda commanding), allegedly retaken the next day by the British naval transports Friendship (John Adamson commanding) and Fame (Edward Ogle commanding), in company with others, and brought into London, although Clement Martin maintained in great detail that the Spanish prize crew had surrendered to him when they saw the other ships: disputed capture.
