Description

Captured ship: De Jonkheijd (master Martinus de Vries).

History: a Dutch ship (100 tons, 6 men, formerly De Jonge Boudewin), bound from Bordeaux to Dunkirk, laden with salt; taken on 9/20 April 1748 near Guernsey by the privateer Cumberland (William Coutart commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

  • [CP 1]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 2-CP 3]: two attestations and claims;
  • [CP 4]: allegation;
  • [CP 5]: abstract and translation of the 9 ship's papers [all these papers were restored].
