Description

Captured ship: De Juffrouw Alletta or La Demoiselle Allette (master Bouke Lourens or Boiche Lawrens).

History: a Dutch merchant ship (70 tons, 5 men), bound from La Rochelle to Valery-sur-Somme, laden with brandy, treacle, coffee and hides; seized on 11/22 May 1747 at Hamoaze by HMS Speedwell (James Gambier commanding), and brought into Plymouth.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: claim of the master;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8-CP 10]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 78 ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 78.
