Description

Captured ship: De Juffrouw Catherine, otherwise Eufrow Catharine or Yungfrau Katherine (master Hans Benn).

History: a Danish ship (100 tons, 7 men) formerly the Tiverton, bound from Tenerife to Hamburg, laden with wine and silver; taken on 28 April/ 9 May 1744 off Dover by the privateer Eagle (John Bazeley commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • SP M1-SP M20: miscellaneous Dutch, German and English ship's papers 1741-1743, including a 1743 Cadiz Almanac;
  • SP N1-SP N6: 6 Dutch notebooks and journals 1739, 1741, 1742, 1743[?] and 1744.

[Decision: not known, but probably condemned as the papers were not restored]
