Description

Captured ship: Sanct Jurgen (master Jurgen Rulossen, Rolfsa or Rulessen).

History: a Danish merchant ship (54 Danish lasts, 10 men) formerly St Nicholas Church, bound from Hamburg to Malaga, laden with pipe staves, linen, short boards, and lemons; taken on 24 May/ 4 June 1748 between Dover and Dungeness by the privateer St Michael (George Cuningham commanding), and brought into the Downs.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: claim of the master;
  • [CP 7]: 2 sets of attestations and claims;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 11 ship's papers [which were restored].

Decision: restored, 21 June 1748
