Captured ship: St Johannes of Frederikstad (master Lorentz Kleef).
History a Danish merchant ship (70 tons, 1 gun, 7 mariners, 10 passengers) charged with carrying contraband such as butter and beef to a French port (La Rochelle or Le Havre); taken on 28 December 1744 [OS] off the Isle of Wight by the privateer Marlborough (Joseph Southeran commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
