Description

Captured ship: Industry (master George Trail or Traill).

History: a French ship (a New England schooner, previously taken by the French), bound from Newfoundland, laden with codfish; taken in September 1744 by the privateer Princess Mary (Robert Martin commanding), and brought into East Donyland, Essex.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1]: allegation;
  • [CP 2- CP 4]: attestation as to the perishing nature of the cargo, commission of appraisement, appraisement;
  • [CP 5- CP 11]: 2 attestations and claims, attestation in respect to the charges of the claimants, attestation as to charges, letter of attorney.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 9.

[Decision: restored paying 1/2 salvage, 26 January 1745]
