Captured ship: De Hoppet (master Daniel Paulsen).
History: a Swedish merchant ship (6 men), bound from Stockholm to Lisbon, laden with pitch, tar and steel (claimed to be heading for Belle Isle to take on fresh water whilst carrying contraband goods); taken on 12 August 1746 [OS], off the Isle of Groix by the privateer Postilion snow of Topsham (Nicholas Hole commanding)and brought into Topsham.
