Captured ship: L'Heureux Retour (master Raymond Naudin).
History: a French merchant ship (New England built and formerly the [English] Black Ann, 140 tons, 8 guns, 21 men and"two Negros shipped as passengers"), bound from Bayonne to Saint Domingue, laden with nails, coal, bottled beer, beef, brandy, hams, cutlery, dry fish, green oil, paving stones, tobacco, and pipes; taken in fight on 28 June / 9 July 1747at Cape of Macacao, by the privateer Charming Nancy (Philip Winter commanding), in sight of the privateer Cumberland of Guernsey (John Mauger commanding), and brought into Jersey.
