Captured ship: L'Heureuse Marguerite of Bordeaux (master Jean Lafargue).
History: a French merchant ship (160 tons, 9 guns, 25 men, 2 passengers) bound from Bordeaux to join a convoy to Cap Francois, Saint Domingue, laden with several bales of different cloth, oil, wine, butter, pork, candles, beef, paper and thread; taken on 24 September/ 5 October 1747 off the river of Bordeaux by the privateer Charming Nancy (Philip Winter commanding) and brought into Jersey.

Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 54.
Mail in Transit: 'a parcel of letters' - 69 letters or packets of letters addressed to Saint Domingue, now numbered 1-69, of which several remained sealed until opened 28 October 2025.
