Description

Captured ship: De Helena (master Lars Hagberg or Haebergh).

History: a Swedish ship (28 lasts, 7 men), bound from Uddevalla to Setubal, laden with iron, deals, yarn, Scotch cloth and linen; taken on 12 November 1746 by HMS Shark (Christopher Middleton commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: three exhibits extracted from the registry of the English High Court of Admiralty;
  • [CP 7]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 8-CP 12]: five sets of attestations and affidavits;
  • [CP 13-CP 14]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 20 ship's papers [all restored].
