Description

Captured ship: Friedrick der Zweite, König von Preussen or Fredericus de Secunde or Fredericus de Tweede (master Christian Schultz).

History: a Prussian merchant ship (36 lasts, 5 men and 2 boys), bound from Königsberg via Helsound in Norway [?Ålesund] to Bordeaux, laden with hemp, staves and fir deals; taken on 5/16 November 1746 in the English Channel between Dover and Calais by the privateer Eagle (John Bazely commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8]: attestation of the master;
  • [CP 9-CP 10]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 14 ship's papers [all but 3 of these papers were restored].

Ship's Papers numbered SP 2-SP 4.

[Decision: cargo condemned 13 December 1746; ship restored as neutral 26 May 1747 ]
