Captured ship: La Françoise of Isle Dieu [Île d'Yeu] (master Philippe Nolleau).
History: a French merchant ship (bark, 45 tons, 5 men), bound from Nantes to Dunkirk, laden with wine, brandy, indigo and cocoa; taken on 27 March / 7 April 1744 off Beachy Head ["within sight of the White Cliffs of England"] by HMS Anglesea (John Brett commanding), and brought into London.
Court Papers:
Ship's Papers numbered SP 1-SP 13.
[Decision: condemned 4 May 1744, except 4 casks of indigo restored as Dutch ally]
