Captured ship: St François de Paul (master Antoine Martin).
History: a French merchant ship (60 tons, 2 guns, 12 men and 4 Turkish, 4 Moorish and one Jewish passenger with a Moorish slave), bound from Gerbig in Barbary to Athens and Smyrna, laden with soap ashes, 62 bales of sashes and parangani, 4 cases of red caps Barbary style, and 3 cases of dry cuttles; taken on 1/12 July 1744 of Cerigo [Kythira] by the privateer Ruby (Robert Saunders commanding), and brought into Malta. The master, some of the crew and one passenger were put ashore on Kythira.
