Description

Captured boats: two French boats.

History: two French boats, taken on 18/29 August 1747 in Queberon Bay by the privateer Markin of Guernsey (Joseph Oliver commanding), and ransomed.

  • Le St François (master Julien Sallow), (11 tons, 4 men), bound from Port Louis, Brittany, to Nantes, laden with pilchards and empty hogsheads, ransomed for 1000 livres.
  • Le St Guinole (master Jean Soufene), ransomed for 800 livres.

  • [CP 1]: one examination of the hostage from Le St François, taken in Guernsey;
  • [CP 2]: allegation relating to both boats;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: copy of ransom bill for Le St François, and translation.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 15 January 1748]
