Captured ship: La Flore de Nantes (master René Chatellier).
History: a French merchant ship (200 tons, 8 guns, 39 men), bound from Saint-Domingue to Nantes, laden with sugar, indigo and coffee, one of a fleet of six ships captured together by an Anglo-Dutch squadron, the others being L'Intrépide, La Laurance, Les Bons Enfants, Le Monarque and La Sirenne; taken on 12/23 August 1744 by HMS Augusta (John Hamilton commanding), after being chased and engaged by the privateer Prince Charles (Charles Gwynn commanding), and brought into Portsmouth. Disputed joint capture.
