Description

Captured ship: La Fine chaloupe of Boulogne (commander Jean Rombault).

History: a French privateer (5 tons, 4 swivel guns, 12 or 15 men), bound from Boulogne on a cruise; taken on 31 May / 11 June 1747 about 2 leagues from Calais Cliffs by the privateer Duke William (John Norris commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 14 ship's papers. (The translation mentions nos. 7 to 16 inclusive, but this may have been an error).

Ships Papers numbered SP 1-SP 14.
