Captured ship: Farmer's Adventure (master Dugal Mackenzie; as a French prize, Michel Picard).
History: a British merchant ship or snow (90 tons), bound from South Carolina to Cowes, Isle of Wight, laden with 342 barrels of rice and two hogsheads of rum; taken on 12/23 August 1744 in latitude 50° 4', longitude 4° 40' by the French privateers Le Roy Stanislas (Britineau Duplessis commanding) and Le Formidable (J Averty commanding); retaken on 14/25 August 1744 18 leagues south-west of Ushant by the privateer Charming Nancy (Gideon Villeneufve commanding), and brought into Jersey, and then Guernsey.
