Description

Captured ship: De Frau Juliana (master Martin Pust).

History: a Prussian ship (55 lasts, 7 men and 2 boys), bound from Stettin to Amsterdam, laden with wine and chestnuts; taken on 7 January 1747 by the privateer Prince of Orange (John Stevenson commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master, January 1747;
  • [CP 7-CP 14]: 5 sets of attestations, affidavits and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Amsterdam and Stettin;
  • [CP 15-CP 16]: allegation and attestation as to papers;
  • [CP 17-CP 18]: two abstracts and translations of the 19 ship's papers, 8 in French, 11 in Dutch and German [these papers were restored].
