Description

Captured ship: De Frau Christina (master Michel Hager).

History: a Swedish ship (60 lasts, 5 men 2 boys), bound from Lisbon to Hamburg, laden with wine; taken on 8 May 1748 at Dungeness by the privateer Hunter (Wilson Smith commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master, 25 May 1748;
  • [CP 7]: translations of two attestations given on behalf of merchants in Hamburg, 31 May 1748;
  • [CP 8]: copy and traslation of a certificate issued by the Senate of Hamburg, 24 May 1748;
  • [CP 9]: attestation as to papers.
  • [CP 10-CP 11]: two set of abstracts and translations of the 22 ship's papers, the first being of 15 papers in French and German, the latter, 7 in French [these papers were restored].
