Description

Captured ship: La Françoise Renée or Le François René (master Jean Baptiste Guillaume Roussel)

History: a French merchant ship (100 tons, 6 men) bound from Marrenes to Honfleur, laden with salt; taken on 30 April 1745 off Ushant by the privateer Marguerite (Peter Manger commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 3]: allegation;
  • [CP 4]: abstract and translation of the 5 ship's papers;

Ship's Papers, numbered SP 1-SP 5.

  • SP 1-SP 2: receipt and bill of lading issued to the master;
  • SP 3-SP 5: French pass, two declarations of cargo laden, muster roll.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 10 June 1745]
