Captured ship: Francis or, as a Spanish prize, Alcoro (master Fortescue Vernon, or the Spanish prize-master, Bizante Cehalas).
History: an English ship (100 tons), bound from Charleston, South Carolina to Cowes, laden with rice, planks, cotton and rum; taken on 4 May 1744 by a Spanish privateer; retaken on 19 May by the privateer Vulture (Hugh Bromedge commanding), and brought first into Kinsale, and then into Bristol.
