Captured ship: the Elizabeth of Scarborough (master William Johnson (as a French prize, Charles Tanqueray).
History: an English merchant ship, bound from Carolina to London,laden with tobacco, tar, turpentine and other goods; taken on 22 September/3 October 1747 by the French privateer Nymphe of Grandville, retaken on 1/12 October 1747 by the privateer Charming Nancy (Philip Winter commanding) and brought into Jersey.
