Captured ship: Elizabeth of Pennsylvania (master William Hurst).
History: an English merchant ship (a New England-built brigantine, 100 tons, 2 carriage guns and 2 swivel guns) bound from Cape Fare in America [Cape Fear?], laden with pitch, tar and staves; taken on [1/12 June] 1745 by the French privateer Maurepas [who crewed it with 8 French man and 1 Englishman], retaken on 5/16 June 1745 in latitude 49º30 by HMS Captain (Thomas Griffin commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
