Description

Captured ship: De Eendraght or Concord (master Jacob Brobbel).

History: a Dutch ship (54 lasts, guns, 6 men, 2 boys), bound from Rotterdam to Nantes, laden with butter, dyewood, sundry merchandises; taken on 12 May 1744 by the privateer Eagle Snow (John Bazeley commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 6A]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit, wrapper, docket;
  • [CP 7-CP 9]: attestation, claim and further attestation of the master, June 1744;
  • [CP 10-CP 13]: three attestations of the captors about searching the cargo for contraband, June 1744;
  • [CP 14]: attestation and translation of the master's expenses about the law suit;
  • [CP 15-CP 18]: four sets of attestations, affidavits and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Rotterdam, brought into court in October 1744;
  • [CP 19-CP 22]: lighthouse receipt from Dover, list of the master's expenses, attestation and accounts;
  • [CP 23]: abstract and translation of the 36 ship's papers [these papers were restored].

[Decision: restored as a Dutch ally, with costs and damages, and appealed, 19 June 1744]
