Description

Captured ship: Ehrenfried Christian of Stralsund (master Hans Klopstock).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (59 lasts, 7 men, 2 boys), bound from Bordeaux to Stockholm, laden with wine, brandy, prunes, sugar, coffee, indigo and sweetmeats; taken on 27 April / 8 May 1748 off Dungeness by the privateer Hunter (Wilson Smith commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master, May 1748;
  • [CP 7]: 1 sets of 32 attestations, with affidavit and translation, taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Stockholm, and brought into court in June 1748;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 55 ship's papers [these papers were restored].
