Captured ship: Le Duc de Penthievre (master Pierre Belin / Pierre Bellin).
History: a French merchant ship (250 tons, 10 guns + 4 swivels, 33 or 34 men), bound from Saint-Domingue to Nantes, laden with sugar, indigo and hides; taken on 10 / 21 June 1744 at 47° 30'N 4° 6'W by HM Sloop Grampus (Richard Collins commanding), HMS Chester (Francis Geary commanding) and HMS Hampton Court (Savage Mostyn commanding), and brought into the River Thames.
