Description

Captured ship: Dorothea Maria of Copenhagen (master Bendix Steg).

History: a Danish merchant ship (81 lasts, 11 men), bound from Friedrichshald [Fredrikshald, Norway] to Bordeax, laden with deals; taken on 2/13 May 1748 by the privateer Anson (Benjamin Goodwin commanding), and brought into Dover.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translations of the 13 ship's papers (bundle 13 being a master's archive"of no signification at all") [these papers were restored].
