Captured ship: Le Dauphin (master Richard Butler).
History: French East Indiaman (600 tons, 30 guns, 200 men) bound from China to Lorient, laden with chinaware, tea and silk; taken in fight (along with Le Hercule and Le Jason) on 25 January/5 February 1745 by HMS Deptford (John Phillipson commanding) and HMS Preston (George, Earl of Northesk commanding) in the Bangka Strait, East Indies, and taken into Batavia.
