Captured ship: Le Comte de Carbonnel of Grandville (master Jacques Tapin).
History: a French merchant ship (150 tons, 8 carriage guns, 22 men), bound from the Newfoundland fisheries to Grandville, laden with dry cod fish, mud fish, train oil and beaver: taken on 18/29 August 1747 about 14 leagues south of the Lizard by HMS Triton (Mariott Arbuthnot commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
