Captured ship: the Clinton (master Thomas Bowne).
History: an English merchant ship (180 tons), bound from Belfast to Madeira and New York, laden with coals, linen, gunpowder, gloves, the furniture of a bed, etc; taken on 3/14 April 1745 in latitude 40º by the French privateer L'Amiral de Bordeaux (Jacques Simon Lonnergan commanding), but ransomed, with most of her cargo (and some transferred to the privateer); L'Amiral de Bordeaux was then taken in fight on 16/27 April 1745 (with the ransom hostage still on board) by the privateer Thurloe of Liverpool (James Kennan commanding), and brought first into Cork, and then into Liverpool.
