Description

Captured ship: Christianus Sextus of Drammen (master Peder Brun).

History: a Danish (Norwegian) ship (60 lasts, 8 men, 1 boy), bound from Nantes to Rotterdam or Boulogne, Calais or Dunkirk, laden with salt and brandy: taken on 27 July / 7 August 1744 by the privateer Eagle Snow (John Bazeley commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6-CP 8]: attestation and claim by the master, and a further attestation;
  • [CP 9]: allegation;
  • [CP 10-CP 11]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translations of the 34 ship's papers [which were restored].

[Decision: cargo condemned, ship restored as neutral, 9 September 1744]
