Captured ship: Clotilda of Whitehaven (master William Rothery, and when a French prize, Jacobus Sibersen).
History: an English merchant ship (25 tons), bound from Whitehaven to Rotterdam, laden with Maryland tobacco; taken on 13/24 May 1745 off the Maze [Maas] by the French privateer St Michel of Dunkirk (Pierre Lefevre commanding, called Jouin le fils), retaken on 16/27 May 1745 by the privateer Swift (George Hudson commanding), and brought first into Ostend, and then into Deal.
