Description

Captured ship: Charlotta of Nykoping (master Peter Magnus Sanstrom).

History: a Swedish merchant ship suspected of carrying French property, taken by the privateer Endeavour (Robert Crousscuall commanding).

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6-CP 7]: attestation and claim of the master, October 1747;
  • [CP 8]: attestation of the master, March 1748;
  • [CP 9-CP 19]: 11 sets of attestations, affidavits and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Nyköping and Stockholm, between October 1747 and February 1748, and brought into court in March 1748;
  • [CP 20-CP 21]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 27 ship's papers [most of these were restored].

Ship's Papers, numbered SP 12-13, SP 16, SP 18-21 and SP 21a (enclosure).

[Decision: part of the cargo condemned, the ship and the rest of the cargo restored as neutral, 5 April 1748]
