Description

Captured ship: Le Charon of Dunkirk (master Rene Flahaut or Flahault).

History: a French privateer (a bilander, 80 tons, 10 carriage guns, 8 swivel guns, 85 men); taken on 2/13 June 1747 fifteen leagues off Scarborough by HMS Fortune (Edward Jekyll commanding), and brought into Great Yarmouth.

  • [CP 6]: allegation
  • [CP 7-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 41 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers, numbered SP 1-SP 41 (of which many are blank printed forms - of which 10, 11, 15 and 16 are missing).
