Captured ship: Caesar otherwise Cezar or Sezar of Bayonne (master Gerard Hirigoyen of Biarritz).
History: a French merchant ship (150 tons, 20 men) bound from Bayonne to Saint Domingue, laden with provisions, soap, hats, paving stones, gunpowder and other merchandise; taken on 22 February/4 March 1748 in 45º by the privateers Grand Alexander (Matthew Combe commanding) and the Hawke (Joseph Buckley commanding), and brought first into Lyme, and then into Bristol.
