Captured ship: Le Conquête d'Angleterre of Calais (master Antoine Gaspard Vital).
History: a French privateer (6 tons, 2 carriage guns, 4 swivel guns, 19 men); taken on 23 February/5 March 1748 eighteen miles off Newhaven in England, after being chased 6 hours, by the privateer Success (Thomas Hall commanding) in sight of another privateer, and brought first into Newhaven and then into Dover.
