Description

Captured ship: La Comtesse de la Rivière of St Malo (master Nicholas Chenard, Sieur de la Giraudais).

History: a French privateer (240 tons, 161 men, 20 guns), bound from St Malo on a cruise; taken on 2/13 March 1745 at 49º50 by HMS Augusta (John Hamilton commanding), and brought into Kinsale.

  • [CP 2]: allegation;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 11 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers, numbered SP 1-SP 11, including SP 4A, SP 9 [uncut], and SP 11 A-D [15 papers].

[Decision: condemned as prize, 29 April 1745
