Description

Captured ship: St Catherine (master Louis Jouvin).

History: a French merchant ship, bound from Smyrna to Messina, Sicily or Marseilles, laden with cotton, cotton wool, silk, wool and wax; taken as a joint capture by the English privateers or merchant ships Dursley Galley (Edward Campion commanding), Bacchus of New York (Robert Taverner commanding), and Imperial Anne (Richard Harman commanding), and brought into Leghorn; taken again on 27 April 1744, while lying at quarantine in Leghorn Roads, by HMS Revenge (George Berkeley commanding).
