Captured ship: Le Conquerant of Nantes (master François Giron, age 32, born St Malo).
History: a French merchant ship with letter of marque (250 tons, 22 guns, 134 men), bound for the Guinea coast, laden with Swedish iron, 'coris' [cauris or cowries?], India goods, tobacoo, knives, pipes, brandy, gingham, guns, gunpowder, wine and flour and also satin and brocade to sell for gold dust, but if no sale for the fabrics in Afirca, to sell in America instead; taken in fight on 10 March 1746 in 43º between Cape Ciprian and Cape Pinas by the privateers London (John Jardin commanding), and Garland (Robert Taverner commanding), and brought into Lisbon.
