Description

Captured ship: Le Comte de Virlade (master Inguene or Juguen Gueguen).

History: a French merchant ship (240 tons, 32 men) bound from Martinique to Bordeaux, laden with sugar, coffee, cotton and cocoa; taken on 4/15 January 1745 in 47º 18 by the privateer Shoreham (Robert Milligen commanding), in sight of the privateers Tuscany of Bristol (Robert Raitt commanding) and Tryall of Bristol (William Woods commanding) as a joint capture, and brought into Kinsale.
