Description

Captured ship: Le Chasseur of Bayonne (master Michel Giraudel).

History: a French privateer (150 tons, 18 carriage guns, 8 swivel guns, 139 men); taken on 4/15 April 1746 at 49º about 40 leagues south of Cape Clear by HMS Yarmouth (Roger Martin commanding) with 9 other naval ships in sight, and brought into Plymouth.

  • [CP 6]: allegation;
  • [CP 7]: abstract and translation of the 7 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers, now marked SP A-SP G, including agreement between master and crew, and a letter.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 26 May 1746]
