Captured ship: Charitas of Christiania in Norway, and formerly De Liefde, (master John Frederick Samuelsen).
History: a Danish ship (65 lasts, 9 men), bound from Seudres to Dunkirk, laden with brandy, salt and vinegar; taken on 31 July/11 August 1747 off Farley [Fairlight] by the privateer Swallow (Henry Staffell commanding), and brought into Dover.
