Description

Captured ship: La Catherine d'Amsterdam otherwise Katerina (master Gerrit Anderisen Boek otherwise Bock or Bogt).

History: a Dutch merchant ship (150 tons, 6 men), bound from Argenton to Grandville, laden with rosin; taken on 11/22 May 1747 off Cape Fréhel by HMS Dover (Hon Washington Shirley commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.

  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8-CP 10]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and two translations of the 6 ship's papers.

Shiip's Papers, numbered SP 1-SP 4 [5 and 6, two letters, were restored].

[Decision: cargo condemned, ship restored as a Dutch ally, 4 August 1747]
