Description

Captured ship: Cesar of Nantes (master Philippe Dagoust Dumoine).

History: an armed French merchant ship (200 tons, 74 men) bound from Nantes to Martinique, laden with provisions, flour etc; taken on 15 January 1745 by the privateer Great Britain (William Wilson commanding), and brought into Lisbon.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: four examinations taken at Lisbon, with a paper annexed;
  • [CP 3]: attestation as to removal of some invoices;
  • [CP 4]: allegation;
  • [CP 5-CP 6]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 5 ship's papers.
Ship's Papers, now numbered SP 1-SP 5; including SP 1, regulations as to tobacco imports.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 9 April 1745]
