Captured ship: St Blaise (master Jean Viollet).
History: a French merchant ship (250 tons, 38 men) bound from Cyprus and Alexandretta via Malta to Marseilles, laden with silk, wool, drugs, cotton galls, and other merchandise; taken on 2/[13] January 1748 in latitude 37 twenty leagues off Malta by the privateer Constantine [of Bristol] (John Read commanding), and brought first into Malta and then into Leghorn [Livorno].
