Captured ship: La Belle Manon of Le Havre (master Charles Lubin).
History: French merchant ship (130 tons, 24 men) bound from Brest to Saint Domingue, laden with coals, earthenware, bricks, cloth, pease, and other merchandise; taken on 16/27 January 1748 at about 50° latititude, 8° longitude by HMS Falcon (Thomas Saumarez commanding) in sight of HMS Shoreham (Robert Haldane commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
